Ford’s upgraded Ka range is distinctive within the small car area of the market, as it has been since the original version was launched – over a decade ago. That version of the Ford Ka caused a great deal of fuss and hype and went on to become a long-lasting cult hit – the continued success of the model ensuring that Ford have not needed to consider an upgraded version for a remarkably long time. The new version has already received a number of positive, if guarded, reviews from specialists since its launch, thanks to the improvements in fuel economy.
The new Ford Ka range offers three different models: the Ka Studio, which is likely to be the most popular with the majority of buyers, as it is the most basic model, but offers the essential features most average car buyers would look for; the Ka Edge, which has all of the features of the Studio – such as power assisted steering, anti-lock braking system, stereo player with mp3 capability and electronic brake force – but in addition offers a number of other features for only £1000 higher retail price than the Studio; and finally there is the Zetec, which is the most luxurious edition, offering fog lights at the front and alloy, multi-spoke wheels, in addition to all of the other features and retails for £1,800 more than the Studio model.
The overall attention to safety in the new Ford Ka range is one of the areas that has been significantly upgraded from the original version, offering Ford’s in-house Intelligent Protection System. There are driver and passenger airbags fitted as standard, with the option of additional curtain and side ones and the car also has the emergency brake assist feature, which increases the pressure when you slam hard on the brakes. The new Ford Ka is widely reputed to be the safest small car overall. If you are after a used Ford Ka or any other used car in Leicester or elsewhere, you can head to motors.co.uk and get one in like-new condition at a low price.
Ford has released a new version of the current Fiesta called the Metal version which is set to replace the limited edition S1600.
Powered by a 134bhp 1.6 litre petrol unit there will be just 1,000 produced making it a limited edition Fiesta. The punchy 134bhp engine will manage a 0-62mph time of 8.7 seconds.
With sports suspension fitted as standard the ride is comfortable even with the 17 inch alloy wheels included in the specification.
Outside the Metal will include black paintwork and gloss black alloys together with a new more aggressive style bodykit. Inside the spec gets even better with items such as heated leather sports seats, stainless steel scuff plates and a piano black centre console as standard.
Cost of this limited edition Metal Fiesta is £15,695.
We love the look of this new edition which will surely stand out from the crowd.
Metallic Silver. ORIGINAL VELOUR INTERIOR, 13″ CROSS SPOKE ALLOYS,COMPLETE FILE WITH SERVICE HISTORY AND RECEIPTS,FRONT SPOTS, MANUFACTURED IN 1983, THE FORD FIESTA FLY WAS BASED ON THE STANDARD XR2 HATCHBACK, REGISTERED AND THEN SENT TO SPECIALIST COACHBUILDERS CRAYFORD FOR THE CONVERSION. THE ORIGINAL CONVERSION WAS BASED ON THE 1.3 GHIA WHERE 15 WERE PRODUCED AND THEN FOCUSED ON THE XR2 WHERE ONLY 7 WERE BUILT
This certainly would turn heads and would make a great show car given how rare it is.
Spotted this cracking Sunburst Red Mk1 XR2 for sale on Pistonheads. Priced at £3,995 it’s not cheap but then it does look like a great example of a Mk1.
The advert goes as follows:
Stunning Sunburst Red Fiesta XR2 with only 79,000 miles. This is an Immaculate and Original car which has never been damaged or welded. Do not confuse this with the usual tired example.
The colour may not be to everyone’s taste, I personally really like it and think it makes it stand out from the crowd. The interior looks well looked after and with only 79,000 miles on the clock this should be in very good mechanical working order.

Ford have released a site aimed at the American market to gauge opinion on the new Ford Fiesta which is set for a release in early 2010.
Now the really exciting thing about the site is the options list which includes a Turbo Kit!
Will a Fiesta every get a Turbo again?
Now before everyone gets excited about Ford sticking a turbo in the little Fiesta and going back to the good old days of the mighty RS Turbo this site is aimed at gauging opinion only, so there is no guarantee if the turbo kit will even get past the ideas stage.
All I would say is tell everyone to visit the site and go through the design process whilst selecting the turbo kit as an option and you neer know it may convince Ford to make it a reality.
Visit the site here click on ‘Design Your Own’ and follow the process.
Sticking to the white theme as in the previous post with the Xr2i on Piston Heads, this time I have found a stunning Xr2 in white on eBay. Take a look and see if you agree:
This is yet another classic car that have now become an appreciating desireable classic car. This one has no rust on the exterior at all, the towing eye cover has still got the original seal on from when it left the factory showing it has never been towed, the rear seats have never been sat on. the boot has still got the original holder for the removeable sunroof. the interior really is immaculate and free from cig burns or smell. the milleage is low at sixty eight thousand miles and the car is hpi clear with a certificate. This is a car that reminds me so much of my youth and if cherished will only go up in value.
If I had a spare £3k burning a hole in my pocket I think I would have to get this, if anyone reading this wants to donate the £3k required then email me…… That’s a no then?
What I love about this particular model is how good it still looks despite being nearl 20 years old. I am really liking the white colour scheme something I wish I had gone for on my current Fiesta ST when I purchased it.
This Diamond white example is a real gem having only covered 78,000 miles and no rust in sight the £1,500 price tag seems very reasonable.

Fast Ford released a Fiesta XR2i buyers guide a few years ago which provides as a handy resource for anyone thinking of getting one of these classic fords.
To say i’m a big fan of old fiesta’s would be an understatement. Although I currently own a newer Fiesta being the Fiesta ST I still would love to buy either a mk1 or mk2 in good condition as a weekend drive. This will hopefully become a reality in the not so near future as I am moving house and will have a garage to store one in, with this being the case I do have a look on various Ford related sites and classic car sites for that gem that may tempt me and often find something that catches my eye.
I was looking round the internet and stumbled upon Clunkbucket a website based over the water in USA and a fine example of a Mk1 Fiesta that I long for in Jerry Kuszak’s Mk1 Yellow Fiesta. It’s a fine example of what the Mk1 Fiesta can look like even after all these years when given some attention and a little tlc, and this example prove’s that a Mk1 can still be a daily drive.
A thing of beauty
This got me thinking and I had a quick look around eBay to see if anything similar was on offer and stumbled upon this I just only wish it was a little closer to home as I would be more than tempted to have a look. I’m sure the winning bidder will be more than happy with their puchase once the auction ends.
